Article Marketing and the Resource Box

Posted by Jenny on June 28, 2010 in Marketing, Writing, Writing Articles |

Over the years many people have learned that writing articles can be the secret to substantial traffic and search engine results. More and more webmasters have seen the effects articles have had for the success of their sites. Some have even made websites primarily devoted to providing articles that could be read by their website visitors and have links that could lead to many other sites that are related to the topics of the articles.

For example, these websites will provide many articles about a great variety of valuable content. When a website visitor reads the articles, they will discover at the end of the article a resource box that can be clicked on to take them to another website. Naturally the website linked would be related to the article. Lets say the article is about the vending machine business, then the resource box should have a link that leads to a site that sells vending machines.

A resource box is usually found at the end of an article. Often they will have the name of the author, the author’s bio, a brief description of the sponsoring site and a link. If a reader liked what they read, they would have the tendency to find out where the article came from and to read more. The resource box will be their link to the source of the article and this will entice them to go to the site and do some more reading or research for the subject or topic they are interested in.

Like the article, the resource box must also be eye-catching to demand the attention of the reader. While the resource box contains only a small space, providing the right information for your resource box will give more temptation for the reader to click the link to your website or blog.

Now we know what resource boxes are, but what are the reasons for having a great resource box? Mainly its for driving traffic to your site. Many websites will allow articles to be placed on their sites because they can make use of other peoples articles to provide content. By writing the content, when people click on your resource box, you will receive traffic that can become potential customers.

So what is good content for your resource box? Basically it should be keywords designed to make people want to discover more. Normally the best are ones that continue with the feel of the article yet leave the reader anxious for more. A great example will have a call to action sentence such as “To learn more about vending machines and how you can profit by owning them please visit…” and then provide a link back to your site containing your targeted keyword.

Resource boxes can also use all the creativity they can get. You only get a small space for your resource box so make the most from it. Never forget the power of your resource box. They may be small but they can attract considerable traffic to your site. A boring resource box will rarely get job done. Be fun and creative but most of all show that you have a lot more to offer and watch your visitor statistics explode!
