What Article Directories are Looking for

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009
Adrian Lawrence asked:

Just in case you haven’t noticed, there are literally hundreds of article directories cropping up on the Internet. In line with Google’s Adsense program and other such programs, people are looking to get on the Internet with their Web page. One thing that most Web site owners have learned is that having articles that say something help rank them higher on the search engines instead of having jumbled up keywords on a page that doesn’t read well at all.

Article directories have a big job—every day, thousands of authors and want-to-be authors submit their articles to these directories. These authors aren’t seeking payment, but rather a link back to their site, exposure for themselves as writers and for their websites. It’s a scratch-my-back-and-I’ll-scratch-yours society. Many of the articles that are submitted to these directories are not articles at all, but rather blurbs of nothingness with little content and usually lacking readability. The revenue from Adsense for the article directory Web sites can be substantial, but only if they have quality articles posted on their site and if they can get it up quickly.

There is of course Spam to these article directory Web sites as well—repeat articles submitted one after another or copied-and-pasted content that has been plagiarized from the Internet and another author. This Spam and plagiarism scam is the bane of article directories and the editors that run them.

Article directories are looking for articles—if your article hasn’t been accepted, it’s likely for a good cause. The articles that should be submitted to an article directory should reflect your best work—remember, you are putting your name and your link to your Web site on the work, and the people who are looking at it could want to commission you to do more work for them.

The articles themselves should be clear and concise, error free and well-written. Don’t get verbose on the bane of your own existence or the antics of your dog—save these rants for your blog and keep them off the article directory sites. Your article should be lengthy, at least 400 words and definitely not less than 250 words. Anything less than this suggests a lack of thought by the author and a cheap attempt to get their name in lights with a link-back to their site without sharing anything meaningful.

It is also important to note that adult material, gambling and pharmacy content are against the terms of service of Google Adsense. Editors at article directories are careful to delete these types of articles that are submitted so as to not lose their Google Adsense account and revenues.

All in all, it is highly important to output quality articles that are informative and well-written. These types of articles are much more likely to get through onto the article directory. Avoid plagiarizing materials from the Internet at all costs—most of the larger article directories and even some of the newer, smaller ones run the copy you submit through Copyscape to scan for plagiarism. Editors at article directories are constantly barraged with emails from irate authors who claim their content has been plagiarized—the usual course of action for the editors is to delete the article completely.

Article directories are very popular and are consistently gaining in popularity as well as more and more Web sites pop up on the Internet every day in hopes of making a few dollars. Articles are used by Web site owners to increase their readership; however, it is important to note that the more copies of the articles that appear on the Internet, the lower the search engine ranking can be for any particular Web site that uses it.

Writing Articles. An Enjoyable Pastime

Sunday, September 27th, 2009
Russell Hancock asked:

For those looking for a fun and rewarding hobby, or for those looking to increase traffic to their websites, writing articles can be a fun and rewarding experience.

If you have knowledge of the subject you plan to write about then you may be able to write an entire article without utilizing any other references.

If you do not possess that in-depth knowledge of the subject then Google is your friend.

You don’t need a Masters degree in the particular subject you are writing about; just a general knowledge of the subject matter and some time spent researching the topic.

Spend some time on the internet doing research, just be careful not to steal anyone else’s work and call it your own.

Writing articles gives you a sense of accomplishment. Seeing your article in print or published to so many websites gives you a sense of satisfaction of having accomplished something useful, which others may find informative as well.

Also, for creating traffic and exposure to your website, writing articles is a very effective means of promotion.

For example, if you have a website about dogs, then write an article related to that subject. The article should contain useful information, or you can write about some of your own personal experiences.

Then just add your site links in the body of the article, or in the Authors resource box.

Whatever you decide to write about just be sure to do a little research and write something that will be interesting and informative for the reader.

You will then be seen as somewhat of an expert in the subject matter, even if you may not necessarily be.

After you have written your article then you will want to submit it to your favorite article sites or blogs. You may submit the article to as many sources as you are inclined to.

For maximum exposure the article may also be submitted to many social bookmarking sites such as Digg, Technorati, and many others.

You may also utilize the services of a publishing agent if you decide to try and get the article in print.

If you are writing the article purely for fun then you may only wish to submit it to a few places. On the other hand if you are using this article as a method for creating traffic for your website, then you will want to submit it to as many sources as possible.

Whatever your motives are, writing articles can be a rewarding and enjoyable experience.

How To Kick-Start Your Article Marketing Strategy Into High Gear

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
B Hopkins asked:

ou realized the importance of article marketing and know you need to create articles to begin your article marketing efforts? I have surveyed hundreds of people and for those of them that feel there is a barrier to their article marketing efforts, it usually comes down to not knowing what to write about, not knowing how to write an article, not having the time and not liking the whole article writing process to begin with. If you know article marketing is going to be very powerful for you and you know that you may have some trouble starting it for yourself because it is too overwhelming to even go there, you can begin by buying unique articles. I’m not talking about buying the same private label articles that hundreds of people have already purchased before. If you are going to use private label articles, using them to drive traffic to your website, will be a waste of money because chances are, that same article is already out there 1000 times over and you won’t be getting much response from them. Private label articles have their uses, but driving traffic to your website by submitting them all over the Internet is not one of those uses.

The kinds of articles you want to buy are unique articles that are written to connect with your target audience, and have the proper keyword phrases in them. When you use your own unique articles to promote your product or service, you are saying to the world that you value and take the time to serve your clients and customers. Most communication isn’t about what you SAY; it is about what you DO. It is important to serve your clients and customers from your heart, instead of just giving them anything anyone else can give them because all you are interested in is getting their dollars. Marketing your business with unique articles is a good way to show them you care about serving your target market.

You can get your articles from a number of different sources, and each source will have different plusses and minuses and well as different levels of expenses.

1) You can hire a writer directly from a writer’s guild to write your articles. This will probably be the most expensive way to go. You can be pretty sure that you will get a quality product, but it may or may not be written to get the best response from the Internet in terms of article marketing.

2) You can hire a writer from an online bidding place such as Scriptlance. You are taking somewhat of a gamble here as you can end up with someone writing your articles who doesn’t speak your language well enough to write articles in your language. In order to avoid this problem, you really have to understand how to word your article writing project and be very specific on the quality standards. One thing would be to have them write a sample article and indicate that the person who wrote the sample article is the one who

3) You can use an online article writing service. These online writing services screen their writers so you can be pretty sure you are getting someone who will write a well written article in the language you require. The more established online writing services have also had time to screen their authors for the quality of their writing (following the instructions from the article requester, creating original content and not just a copy and paste job).

Buying articles is a quick way to begin your article marketing efforts. There are a number of ways to buy your articles, but the most effective way that gives you quality articles at a reasonable price is to use an online article writing service that you or an employee would use. There are a few of them online that charge a reasonable price. Go online and see what is available, or read some reviews on the various article services.

A Few Rules for Writing Articles for the Web

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Alan Lim asked:

Some people say that writing articles is an art and that you need quite a bit of creativity inside of you, to write a good article for purposes of article marketing. However, even when it comes to article writing, you will have to follow some rules and regulations when it comes to writing. These rules would enable you to construct a good article that becomes an effective tool of income generation.

Be Concise

Don’t waste words, but try and conserve them as much as possible. Yes, you can write all you want but its best to be as frugal with the text as possible. This lends a bit of simplicity to the proceedings and also helps lend some clarity to the article in general.

Don’t Write to Impress

You are not writing a story, which needs to impress people. What you are doing through the process of writing articles is sharing information with the people, which in turn promotes your website. Writing for the web must be purposeful and you must accomplish this purpose in quick time, hence don’t write to impress but write to empower.

Use single words, Instead of Wordy Phrases

This pointer is similar to the earlier one about not writing articles to impress but to offer information. You must cut short your wordiness and use single words whenever you can. This limits the spread of your content and you can make your point without beating about the bush. Moreover, it makes sense to use simpler words that everybody can understand rather than using important sounding words that are not easy to understand.

Use Bullets, if Possible

Bullets and numbering are a great way to make your article more readable. Bullets are also simpler to read then long sentences. They cut short the length of the article and are to the point. While writing articles, if you come across a few pointers that need to be shared with the readers then it would be a great idea to use bullets. If anything they offer a neat look to the article in general.

Precision in Language

On the whole, you don’t need to meander. Your audience does not have all the time in the world to read your article and hence you must integrate all the pointers given above to construct an article that is precise, meaning that it uses the pronoun minimally for the improvement of clarity. If you use your pronouns sparingly, then it also helps in the process of search engine optimization.

You could call what has been mentioned in this article a few rules or can also call them important pointers towards writing articles that are an effective tool for article marketing. When it comes to web writing, these rules will make it possible for you to create content that people will actually read and not just skim through. So keep these rules/pointers in mind and I am sure that you will be able to configure articles that are not only good but quire readable also.

How to Write Articles in 7 Easy Steps

Monday, September 21st, 2009
TJ Philpott asked:

Knowing how to write articles using a format that readers find appealing is one of the most effective writing skills you can develop. By and large most readers prefer articles that utilize a ‘list format’ since it presents the content in a systematic and organized fashion. When you are writing for your reader you want to concentrate on not only the quality of the content but also the layout.

Presenting your content in a fashion that is easy for people to follow encourages them to continue reading through the entire article. When you spend the time to write an article there is no greater compliment than to have readers read it completely.

So now we want to review in 7 steps how to learn to write articles in a format that will appeal to your readers:

Pick Your Subject

Your article content should usually be related to the topic of your blog or website. Try to choose a subject that is ‘hot’ and current within the circles of your niche. When you write an article you always want it to be relevant and current so a quick review of recent events is a good start for writing ideas.

Develop Your Ideas

After narrowing down your writing ideas into one topic you’ll want to next consider possible sub-topics around which you can base your list. Remember you’re just coming up with a list of topics here so there’s no need to write complete thoughts or paragraphs at this point.

Determine the Length of Your List

Ok you’ve developed a sizable list of sub-topics to work with so now you want to decide the length of the list you’ll use for your article.

In choosing a list length it is recommended to pick odd numbers such as 3, 5, 7, or even 10. An article such as ‘The Top 10 Reasons…” or perhaps “5 Primary Causes of …” seem to catch a readers eye more easily. For undermined reasons readers seem to prefer list that are of these lengths!

Select Your Best Ideas

When reviewing the sub-topics you’ve developed for your article you’ll want to choose, obviously, your ‘best’ topics for inclusion on your list. Enough said here.

Logically Arrange Your Ideas

When writing for your readers you want your content to flow in an organized manner that makes sense. The same goes for the order in which you list your sub-topics. You want your list to reflect some logical pattern making it easier for the reader to follow so keep this in mind as you arrange this list.

Compose an Introduction and Conclusion

This should be relatively easy to do at this point since you already have put together the content of your article. These may be the only areas of your entire article where your writing skills are put to the test

In your intro just briefly discuss the reason for your list and how it will help the reader.

Your conclusion will simply state what your list just covered and how it will help your reader if they act upon your suggestions.

Effective writing always lets the reader know what they are about to read in the introduction and then what it is they have read in the conclusion.

Develop a Catchy Title

With an article using a list format it is not too difficult to develop an eye catching title. Just including the number on the list and stating the benefit of the list itself within your title will catch a readers’ eye.

For instance you have of list of 10 home remedies for poison ivy well there you go:

“10 Ways to Cure Your Poison Ivy at Home” or “10 Remedies that Will Stop Poison Ivy and Cut Medical Costs”.

Knowing how to write articles using a list format will not only win the appeal of your reader but also make your article writing much easier. It is to your advantage and to the benefit of your readers to learn to write articles with this type of format. You will find your article writing is now less a chore while people will find reading them more enjoyable. Everybody wins!

Effective Article Writing: How to Write Articles for Profit

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009
Peter Nisbet asked:

want to use your article writing skills to make money by attracting masses of traffic to your website you must learn how to write articles effectively. Writing articles is a skill and effetive article writing takes time to learn.

There is a large number of reasons for people writing articles, and if you do it properly, you will generally achieve what you intended to by writing yours. Online, that will usually be to advertise a product or market a website. However, it is the ‘doing it well’ that is the problem for most people, and no matter how hard you try or how good a writer you believe yourself to be, internet article writing is more than simply putting a few words together in a sensible way.

However, you will have to stand back and take a long look at what you are trying to achieve with the articles before you try to use them promote your website or products. Prior to beginning your article you should have a clear idea of what your objective is. When writing articles for ezines or article directory submissions, keep in mind that you won’t normally be allowed to provide links to your website or even to actively promote your products.

To be successful, therefore, you must be able to persuade your readers to visit your website - the site that you list in the ‘author’s resource’ section of your article that normally appears at the end of it. Nobody will click on that link unless they believe that:

a) You really know what you are talking about and can help them with their problems or answer their questions, or b) They believe that your website is going to give them the extra information they are seeking.

Just as with any other skill, you have to learn how to write articles effectively - it is not a skill that ‘comes ‘naturally’, and even good fiction novelists don’t understand the concepts involved. Writing articles in the world of internet marketing is a totally different skill to writing professionally for public consumption. The use of language is different, and the semantic approach to content is totally divorced from the type of writing of which Tom Clancy or Agatha Christie were masters.

That is what you have to learn: article writing skills, and the effective writing of articles intended both for submission to directories and for publishing on your own site. In fact, it is possible for your article to appear as content on a number of other websites! If you don’t understand what I mean by that, then you still have a lot to learn about writing articles to ensure your online success.

It is well beyond the scope of this article to teach how to write articles to meet Google’s needs, and to enable them to act as adverts for your websites, products and services. Google is specifically mentioned, because that is by far the biggest search engine online and many others employ Google’s standards and techniques - even, in some cases, their search results.

Google appear to have taken a positive attitiude to articles published on directories, even to the extend of apparently delaying the duplicate content penalty for articles published on multiple directories. Even duplicate content between a number of article directories appears to take a long time to be noticed by Google.

Having learned how to write articles effectively, and having gained the article writing abilities that you will need to effectively market your site and product online, then you will have gained a skill that will enable you to attain high listings for your websites that will not only attract masses of free traffic, but also provide with exposure that no other means of advertising could possible achieve for you.

What Article Marketing Services Do For You

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Sunita Biddu asked:

Using content is the most effective way to market just about anything on the Internet, and an article is one of the best ways to deliver that content. Article marketing is a rapidly expanding field on the WWW, and it could hold the keys to the success of your ventures online.

Ever since Internet marketers have discovered the formula to effective marketing through articles, countless article marketing services have cropped up online. And while articles might sound easy enough for you to do yourself, marketing with them is a whole new ballgame. Here’s a comprehensive look at how professional article marketing can get you into the game and all the way to the home plate.

Article Marketing: What It Involves

Marketing your company with articles takes more than just a chunk of written text that’s posted online. There are numerous factors for you to look at, and each one must be optimized in your favor for any success to be possible.

Good original articles obviously make up the cornerstone of any article marketing strategy. You simply cannot do anything without some new content. It’s the content that will get your links found by the search engines. It’s the content that drives your market to read your articles and (hopefully) click on your links.

An article directory is the next major component of your article marketing strategy. Unless you submit your articles to reputable directories, they’ll remain just that – articles. It’s the directories that will make your articles accessible to both the search engines and your readers. The directories will also help drive up your search engine ranking with one-way link building.

Why Get a Professional Provider?

If articles and directories were all it took, why should you bother paying for professional article marketing service providers? Can’t you just do it all yourself and save money in the process?

Unless you were previously an SEO professional, you’re unlikely to get good results should you decide to do article marketing yourself. There are certain SEO land mines that amateur marketers tend to stumble upon, and a professional provider will make sure that you steer clear of such errors.

For example, posting an article on a shady or disreputable directory is a waste of content. In fact, that little maneuver might just because you more harm than good; one-way link building is actually detrimental to your site’s ranking if the links come from a ‘bad’ site. Professional providers typically maintain a list of 10 to 20 top-ranked directories that should be safe for you to use.

A professional service provider always has professional writers on board, and that takes care of your need for original content. The provider will be the one to give you the attractive and well-written content, saving you from the effort and the trouble. You’re also assured of a steady stream of articles so that your marketing plans can go smoothly once they’ve begun.

Don’t think of professional article marketing companies as wastes of money. Hiring one will save you time and effort, while at the same time ensuring that you at least get some kind of results. And at the end of the day, it’s those results that matter.

Why Was My Article Rejected by an Article Directory?

Saturday, September 12th, 2009
Karen Braschuk asked:

As a small business owner or entrepreneur, no doubt you have a wealth of knowledge to share with your prospective clients. You also know that writing articles is a great way to introduce your services and expertise to the masses and increase your exposure to a wider audience via the internet. It just makes good business sense.

So, why on earth would any article directory not want to publish what you have to share?

Each article directory has its standards and reasons why it may not accept your article for publication. It is extremely important to follow their submission guidelines to the letter. No two article directories are alike. For example, some sites allow HTML and/or links in the body of the article - others don’t.

Another thing to keep in mind is that articles are generally reviewed by a human editorial team to ensure that you are not spamming or simply submitting multiple links to drive traffic to your website. Not only will the editors pick up on this right away, so will your readers (if your article even gets published). The editors devote a significant amount of time reviewing each article to ensure the overall integrity of their directory and that of its contributors.

I’m sure, as an author, you don’t want to find your valuable contribution listed shoulder to shoulder with yet another thinly-disguised advertisement for a male enhancement product or some enticement for folks to gamble at a newly-opened casino.

From time to time, you may write an article that does not meet certain criteria in terms of its length, content or perhaps because of its formatting. Don’t be discouraged by this. Make the necessary changes and resubmit it. It’s well worth the effort to do so.

1) Keep self-promotion to a minimum

When reading your article, if someone is truly wowed by your content, they will want to learn more. They’re not reading your article to find out more about ‘you’.

They’re actually reading to find out more about themselves and perhaps how you might be able to help them.

2) Be aware of the length of your article

Between 700 and 850 words is optimal for the length of most articles because most readers truly don’t have that much time to devote their attention to what you have to say.

3) Keep the “affiliate” thing out of it

Reputable article submission sites hate when contributors try to use them as cheap and easy ways to make money just for the sake of making money.

Keep affiliate links entirely out of your articles.

In fact, some article directories won’t allow you to include links to your own website or even to other websites within the body of your article, whether self-promotional or not.

4) Maximize your author resource box and/or profile

Here is where you are encouraged to promote yourself, your business, your services and your latest book, product or website. If a person likes what they’ve read in your article, naturally, they will want to find out more about you. Normally, you are allowed to alternate between different resource boxes depending on the content of your article and where you want to direct your reader.

If your article submission site allows, feel free to add a photo of yourself to your profile. This will immediately add a more human touch and will give readers the sense that you are a real person who is truly interested in helping THEM.

5) Ensure your article is properly formatted

If you have written an article in Microsoft Word, for example, there are many quirky things that can happen during the copy and paste process into an article directory. Sometimes you’ll submit an article that you’ve composed in Word and then realize that it has been published with all sorts of weird characters and symbols. That doesn’t look very cool or professional.

I usually take the Word document, save it as a plain text and then copy it into Notepad. This usually removes “smart quotes” and other things that can warp your article’s formatting after the fact. (Always look at the article directory’s preview before you submit.)

6) Keep track of your articles and where you have submitted them

It’s easy to lose track of where you have already submitted an article and when. New article directories crop up every day and you may have written an article a year ago, but now want to submit it to some new sites. But you may wonder, “Have I already submitted that to XYZ?”

It’s a good idea to keep a simple spreadsheet of your article submissions. Each page within the workbook can be devoted to one article and include the article’s title, the date submitted and published, the link to the URL of the published article and the login information for each site. You can also add notes about each directory’s key guidelines.

It serves as a permanent record of the history of the article. It avoids duplication and tracks those various email addresses and passwords that you might have used while submitting your articles in the past.

In summary, a well-circulated article can pay amazing dividends to your business and reputation. The internet has a very long memory. Make sure you maximize this excellent opportunity to reach out to others and maintain a valuable presence for many years to come by ensuring that your articles get published.

Article Marketing - A Highly Effective Online Marketing Tool

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009
Alex Bones asked:

Advertising itself is very important part of almost any business today. In real world, people use different advertising tools such as TV commercials,

print ads, PR campaigns… Online world offers different marketing tools and advertising options, not so expensive. Some of them such as article marketing

are free or close to free.

Being very accessible to many people, online marketing is getting very popular and it can be usually included in your campaigns and can significantly help you in your promotional efforts. One of the most effective tools for Internet marketing is article marketing. It is very cost-effective (I consider it free) and results are durable.

Simply, you write articles about a subject relevant to your business, distribute them freely via free article directories and you’re on the right way of getting better position in search engine results for certain keywords, while offering useful information to your

potential customers and building your own reputation.

I’d be glad to give you a step by step tutorial of article marketing, how it works, what to pay your attention to and what to expect:

Write a highly informative 400-1200 word articles about a subject related to your business. 750 words per article would be completely satisfactory. Write about keywords and key phrases related to your business. Choose a good subject; if your business is concerned with bodybuilding, then write, for instance, why or why not use certain supplements, about results people achieve or side-effects.

A resource box at the end of every article is simply a must. This is very important part of your article as it will be used as a gate to your website from article directories where you post your articles. Resource box should contain clear summary of who you are, what

you’re doing and, of course, a link to your web-site.

Read and re-read your article, read it even aloud if needed. You could also leave it on your desktop and re-read it in a day or two, maybe some corrections will show-up in your mind and you can make the article even better. Then submit the article to many article

directories over the Internet.

Basic tactics behind article marketing is a phenomenon called back linking. As many links to your site search engine can find across the Internet, the better position among search engine results you site will get. Often first results of your Internet marketing efforts can be seen in a few months, you have to be persistent as the results are lasting. But take into

account that your competition is submitting articles also, so you have to continue your efforts if you don’t find some other way of getting better online different from article marketing. I’d be glad to see the new method too, if any.

If you can’t write articles you can hire a so called ghostwriter who will write an article for you for a few dollars and you will only need to submit it to article directories. You can find the writers on many freelance sites over the Internet. If you can write articles yourself, then it’s perfect, you will have a free marketing tool in your hands.

When you submit your articles to article directories, along with resource box at the bottom of every article, there is always a good chance that your article will be reprinted in an e-zine and that would mean new audience your website link is exposed to. It can be reprinted in offline media also. Think about that!

Being said all of this, there should be no doubt about effectiveness of article marketing. You can see the results only if you try it. Article marketing is simple to manage, cost effective and brings very good, long-lasting results!

Link Building Through Article Marketing - 7 Must Know Tips

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009
Rex Bush, Certified Search Engine Marketer asked:

Searching for inbound links?

Want to improve your ranking on Google? Are you looking for a solid, reliable method to consistently build large numbers of inbound links over time?

You’ve come to the right place. Read on…

I have been working on my website for three years now. When I started, I had no inbound links. I was getting traffic from MSN and a little from Yahoo but none from Google.

Today most of my traffic comes from Google. As you know inbound links are important in the Google “algorithm.” It was part of Larry Page’s thesis when he started his search engine experiment.

I’ve tried a lot of different ways to build links. And, after three years, I’ve concluded that the best method is publishing articles through places like Ezinearticles and Isnare.

1. Keywords

Go to SEO Book.com. You’ll find a free keyword tool. Play around with it. Find some keywords that are popular to your subject area. Use them for topics. Work the keyword in a number of times in the article. Use it in the headline.

2. Titles

Article titles or headlines are critical. One of my first articles that I published with Ezine had a very bland title. It got very few views and was published very few times. Then I read Rosalind Gardner’s “Super Affiliate Handbook” and everything changed. She has a great piece on creating interesting article titles. She calls it “The ‘Secret’ Ingredient Every Article Needs.”

Use numerals in the titles. For example, “8 ways to…” or “7 tips to….” And use words like “avoid,” “how to,” “tips” or secrets”. You can probably find some sources on the internet with ideas on headline writing.

Creating snazzy titles is “must know” information so don’t neglect it.

3. Use Proper Grammar and Punctuation

You want webmasters to pick up your articles and post them on their websites and blogs. They may be turned off by bad grammar or incorrect punctuation. Your article will reflect on their site. So make it look good. Use Microsoft Word or WordPerfect and keep the spell checker and grammar checker on at all times.

4. Proofread

James Michener used to say he was not a great writer but he was a great proofreader. After your article is finished, print it out. It is much easier to spot errors on the printed page. Get a red pen. Read the article slowly and carefully. Pretend you are someone else. A competitor, for example. She would find errors in your text. You can do the same. Fix them.

5. Article Submission

There are hundreds of places to submit your article. My current favorites are Ezinearticles.com and Isnare.com.

Ezinearticles has a minimum word requirement of 250 but is very strict about its editorial guidelines. I have published articles at Ezinearticles.com and each article gets a PR (page rank) 2 from Google. This is good. Very good actually. And Ezinearticles is basically the Harvard Law Review of article publishing.

Isnare.com has a minimum word requirement but is much more relaxed editorially. I find I can publish more articles for my time with Isnare even with the higher word requirement. With Ezinearticles I am continually rewriting to meet their strict standards.

There are many other article repository sites and you can find them with a simple search on Google.

6. Distribution

Just getting the article published in a repository is only half the battle. Some webmasters will pick up your articles from the repositories. But, ideally, you want the broadest possible distribution for your article because that way more webmasters become aware of it and publish it.

One way to do that is through “article announcement lists.” These are mostly Yahoo Groups. You can find them through a search on Yahoo. David Viney also publishes a list on page 159 of his very fine book “Getting to the Top on Google.”

For my purposes I have found I get the broadest possible distribution when I publish at Isnare.com. For a small fee ($2.00 per piece) they send the article out to gazillions of sites. And, I start noticing the inbound links multiplying more rapidly. So I pay the $2.00 and feel it is worth the money.

There are other methods of achieving broad distribution. There is software that Rosalind Gardner recommends and claims to use herself that does the same thing. It is rather pricey but if you are writing a lot of articles maybe it is worth the money

7. Resource Box

This is the area after the article where you can put your info. The article is your “give” and the resource box is your “take” as they say at Ezinearticles. There is a whole technology on how to write a concise effective resource box to maximize your return. You can find some great articles on it at Ezinearticles.com. Be sure to include one of the main keywords from your site in your link’s “anchor text.”

Conclusion

Article marketing can generate massive numbers of inbound links. A nice side benefit is that they will also bring you traffic. It takes some time to learn but it is a solid link building and marketing strategy.
