Does anyone have any advice how to start writing articles?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009
Jim asked:

I’ve been looking into journalism for some time, and thought that the best way to test the water would be to just get out there, and write some articles.

However, I’m stuck for inspiration. I’m only looking to write very short pieces at first, requiring little research, so that I can focus on spending my energies on improving my writing style. As such, any suggestions for even very short articles would be appreciated.

OG stackadolla asked:

I am writing a handful of articles, from one to two pages long. It is in regards to a field I am in, and it is going to be used in an online campaign to gain business. Some of the articles I will have to research, others I can write off the top of my head. I will charge more for the articles I will have to research.
This is a company we do real estate transactions with, and he has asked me to write him these articles and he would like for me to put a price on them.

Saturday, July 25th, 2009
ahh asked:

I am writing an abstract and I used a verse which the article I am writing it from used from the Bible from Exodus, xxii, 18. We are not supposed to use sources other than the articles we are abstracting from but we can use quotes the author of the articles chose. How to I cite this verse within my abstract?

Thanks!
You do cite it normally, I remember now, but then you add something like WBQ or some crazy acronym (sp?). I just can’t remember where or what.

A Critical Element in Writing Articles

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009
Sanjay Johari asked:

The first time I decided to write an article for an ezine I was quite excited. I had written technical articles earlier for print media therefore I thought this would be an easy task.

But I was in for a surprise. Although I knew what I wanted to write I just could not complete my article even after working on it for two full days. Several times I started writing and then scratched what I had written.

On the third day I decided to take some help. I searched Google on how to write articles and got advice from several sites. Then I summarized what I had learned and wrote two points for my guidance.

1.Write as if you are talking to one single person.

2.Initially just keep writing whatever comes to your mind. Later you can organize the article and do grammar and spelling.

I thought I had found the magic formula. But I was still struggling with my writing. Just then Hari, a friend of mine, came to my house. He looked at me once and understood that I was in some deep trouble. He asked what was troubling me and I told him about my predicament.

Then he wanted to know the subject of my article

I said that it was something about mind control.

He was rather surprised and asked me why it was so important.

I said that it was important because just by modifying your thinking process you can transform your life and change you destiny. I added that this theory did not seem to be working for me.

Like this we set up a conversation. He asked me questions and I replied. But I did not notice that he was writing the points on a paper. After about 20 minutes he handed me that paper and said that there was my article.

On the sheet of paper he had written down the main points as we had discussed. I immediately saw that not only I had the content for my article but the content was also logically arranged. I thanked him and said that I would finish the article by the evening.

He said that I had to finish the article immediately and send it to the ezine within one hour.

I started writing the article feverishly. Within 15 minutes I wrote about one and half pages and completed the article. Then I started typing like mad. And I was able to submit the article shortly afterwards.

From this experience I wrote my third and the most vital guiding point.

3.Be your own customer.

Now I find that this theory works well in many areas not only in writing articles. Before you get down to write the article imagine that your customer, who in this case is your reader, is sitting in front of you.

You talk to him about the article and as your imaginary conversation continues you write down the points. And there you have the blueprint for your article.

This approach makes you think from the perspective of your customer. This way you do not see what you are offering but you see how your offer looks like.

Look at it this way. You are writing articles for others to read. Why will others read your articles? They will read if there is good content and it is properly arranged. If you want to see how your article appears to your reader, come out of yourself and critically look at your article as if you are the reader and not the writer. When you look at your article from a distance you get a much wider picture.

Writing Articles

Monday, July 6th, 2009
Jason S Parker asked:

Writing articles is a good way to make money online and off-line. All you need is a computer, an internet connection, and a brain.

It’s really pretty simple once you’re taught what you’re supposed to do. And it amazes me how what you’re about to learn isn’t taught all the time. Really all you need to write a great article is this.

You’re about to find out it’s a 4 step process. This goes for professional freelance articles too. You can’t beat this formula.

For short I call it: HCLC

Which stands for… Headline/Opening, Credibility, Lesson, Close. Sounds simple right? It is.

Now, you’re going to discover there are certain ways you need to write the 4 sections. Even though it’s simple to learn too!

If you have the nerve to start off writing for peanuts then as you increase in demand, start charging more (and most importantly, if you enjoy doing it), then read this from beginning to end. Because I guarantee by the end you’ll know the simple format for writing an awesome article. And you’ll be ready to start raking in some cash.

First off, articles are written for different reasons. Sometimes to drive direct traffic to your website. Sometimes to build your links. And other reasons.

Whatever might be the case, the most important element will be your headline. Nothing with a poor headline gets read. Books have been written on writing headlines, but here’s the number one thing you need to remember about them.

Here it is: make sure you state a benefit the reader is going to get. It might sound like common sense. As they say… common sense isn’t that common!

Avoid writing headlines that do not sum up what the reader is going to get out of it. If you can’t think of a headline, start with “How To” or “_ Ways To.”

The next element your article needs is a good opening. In your opening, simply make a promise of what the person is going to get out of reading. Here you can go into more detail than in your headline, but same idea. You’re just making a promise.

A benefit-oriented headline and opening will hook your reader in!

Next give a sentence or paragraph about your credibility if you have any. Or else your words won’t be believed. You need to give a dose of credibility before they’ll believe anything.

Now dive into the lesson. Here’s where writing articles really begins. Don’t try to warm your reader up. Fire away with instructions, facts, data, opinions.

At the end, simply conclude with what your reader should have gotten out of the article. …That’s really all there is to writing a great article.

1. Promise a benefit the person gets in your headline and expand on it in your opening paragraphs.

2. Give proof of credibility so that the reader will trust in your lesson.

3. Start teaching right away. Don’t hold back and don’t try to warm them up.

4. Wrap it all up with a summary of what they learned and what they’re walking away with for reading your article.

No question about it…hiring a company with the express purpose of receiving ghost writing article services is a key to increased exposure, credibility and the ever-present bottom line.

One of the best ways to get people to know about your business is to get articles from you or about you published online or in print. You might even consider developing your own e-zine or blog. But if your budget is limited and you’re not a writer, how in the world can you accomplish this?

For many, the answer is simply to find a ghost writing article service to produce articles that promote your businesses.

Selecting the right ghost writer or ghost writing article services

Before making your final decision on the right ghost writer for your articles, here are a few things to look at:

· Your ghost writer’s skills

Ask for writing samples and recommendations. You don’t want to spend more time editing or correcting writing than you would have spent creating it yourself.

· How well the ghost writer matches your requirements

A capable ghost writer is also a skillful researcher, who will go the “extra mile” to learn about your product or service and produce a compelling, persuasive article.

· Do you communicate well with each other?

You’re great at what you do and your potential ghost writer and ghost writing article service are extremely competent. The question now is, are you good at communicating with each other and would you work well together? After your initial meeting, you’ll know immediately if you and your ghost writer are a good fit.

Blog anyone? Let a ghost writing service write it for you.

Maybe you’ve decided that a blog is the way to go, but again you simply don’t have the time or resources. Blogs have undoubtedly become mandatory for businesses that want to keep online content fresh, innovative and more personally engaging. Blog ghost writing services can develop, write and edit fresh, persuasive copy on a regular basis.
